Staying alert during COVID-19 pandemic
As the nation battles against COVID-19, cybercriminals have been reportedly using this pandemic as part of their social engineering campaign to deceive the public into revealing personal information, credentials and even requesting for funds.
One of the most used tactics is Phishing, where scammers send messages, impersonating financial institutions or other organisations through emails, SMSes, social messaging platforms (E.g. Facebook, WhatsApp), or phone calls. Phishing attacks may come across as trustworthy and users are tricked into believing the authenticity of the message.
Be careful of and avoid responding to unsolicited emails, SMSes and phone calls.
What can you do to protect yourself?
Please be informed that Yongan will never ask our customer to reveal and update personal information and credentials via emails, SMSes, messaging platforms or even over the phone.
We would like to remind our customers to remain vigilant and always protect yourself against cybercrime.
